Kuala Lumpur, 13 April 2020 - Tokio Marine Malaysia consisting of its General (Tokio Marine Insurans (Malaysia) Berhad) and Life (Tokio Marine Life Insurance Malaysia Bhd.) companies today announced that they will be donating 1 million Nitrile Powder-free Medical Gloves in an effort to protect first responders in the local healthcare industry.

Ng Hang Ming, Chief Executive Officer of Tokio Marine Insurans (Malaysia) Berhad (TMIM), said: “Today, hospitals face critical shortages in medical grade gloves for healthcare staff. As corporate citizen, we are compelled to help protect our doctors, nurses and hospital staff in appreciation of the sacrifices and contributions made in their line of duty”.

Tokio Marine Malaysia has teamed up with Supermax, one of the top glove manufacturers in the country in supplying, identifying and distributing these gloves to the following 6 government hospitals.

These include Hospital Sungai Buloh and Hospital Selayang in Selangor, Hospital Kuala Lumpur and Hospital Ampang in Federal Territory, Hospital Putrajaya in Putrajaya and Hospital Melaka in Melaka.

Tokio Marine Life Insurance Malaysia Bhd. (TMLM), along with this group initiative, has set up a special RM1 million COVID-19 Financial Support Fund to help customers and their families during this challenging period. The company also conducted a CSR giveaway of 1000 bottles of hand sanitisers to the public recently.

As an insurance group, Tokio Marine Malaysia hopes this donation can help ease concerns over shortages of personal protective equipment faced by frontliners in those hospitals.
